Rome among the great international cities also boasts a record it shares with few other granid world metropolises. Indeed, the Capitle of Italy is home to numerous types of diplomatic representations, accredited to subjects of international law.

In terms of diplomatic representations to the Republic of Italy, the total number of diplomatic personnel stationed in the capital is estimated to be more than 2,300. Among the most represented states are the missions of Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Canada, China Egypt, Russia, Japan and the United States of America. While analyzing the distribution by continents of the amabsciate at our Republic, it can be seen that 43 are the European ones, 38 the African ones, 23 the American ones, 33 the Asian ones and 2 from Oceania. To compare them with respect to the representations present c/o San Marino and c/o the Holy See see the chart below

Continuing the analysis of the relevant presence of international bodies in Rome, all those working in the field of cooperation and development policies of emerging countries should not be forgotten, and depending on the sector (food, migration policies, refugees, and war interventions) they have a separate headquarters and body. Among the best known, one cannot forget all the organizations that fall under the UN system (FAO, IFAD, UNHCR, World Bank, ILO, WFP, UNIDO-IPO, UN/DESA-HRIC, UNICRI)

Last but not least, there are just as many nongovernmental organizations that reside or otherwise find space in Rome. In fact, the city ranks 18th in the world for network and connectivity, thanks to the presence of 25 of the most relevant organizations on Earth such as: WWF, Amnesty International, Save the Children. The massive presence of NGOs is due to the fact that Rome is also the center of Catholicism and Christian spirituality, and this implies that there are numerous organizations, which related to the exercise of worship, operate in the Capital also and only for solidarity reasons.
