To promote the culture of reuse, Sapienza University has promoted a series of events organized under the patronage of Rus (Network of universities for sustainable development) ranging from 16 to 21 February, within the week that promotes energy sustainability with “I light up less”.
We start with the Wear your story initiative. Those who wish to participate must wear an item of clothing with a family and emotional story to tell, take a photo and share it on social media using the hashtags #milluminodimeno #sapienzaroma #sapienzasostenibile
On February 18th at the Porticato del CIAO, from 10.00 to 18.00, the Swap it! The Fashion Studies students’ swap party, an event dedicated to the exchange of clothes, a unique opportunity to reflect on the importance of recycling and reuse. It will be possible to participate by bringing up to three clean and in good condition items to exchange (jewellery, underwear and shoes are not allowed). Sensors will also be available with which the different types of fabrics can be recognised. The event was organized in collaboration with the Department of History, Anthropology, Religions, Entertainment Art and the Department of Chemical Engineering, Materials and Environment.
19 February in the multimedia room of the Rectorate, from 10.00 to 11.00 the meeting Sustainable Fashion: from Fast Fashion to Circular Economy will take place. Seminar open to all which analyzes the life cycle of textile products, highlighting the impact of fast fashion and the strategies for a more circular future. On 20 and 21 February with the initiative “And so we went out to see the stars again“, Sapienza will turn off the lights of the propylaea of the university city, the facade of the Rectorate and the facade of the Faculty of Architecture of Valle Giulia.
