We present some of the most glamorous terraces for enjoying an aperitif during the spring season in the capital. There are many hotels or venues that boast breathtaking views over the rooftops of Rome, so here is a personal ranking of the terraces, in our opinion, “best” where you can carve out a moment of relaxation while sipping a cocktail inebriated by the Roman sunset:
RHINOCEROS Le Restau & RoofBar (Via dei Cerchi 19/23)
On the terraces of the Rhinoceros Foundation, Alda Fendi’s seventeenth-century art palace, the season of the new gastronomy & mixology project was inaugurated under the supervision of the Executive Chef Giuseppe Di Iorio of the AROMA restaurant (one Michelin star).
Terrazza Borromini and the “Great Beauty” (Via Santa Maria dell’Anima, 30)
The rooftop of Terrazza Borromini the “Great Beauty” stands on the top floor of Palazzo Pamphilj designed by Borromini in the 17th century. The view that can be admired is unique in the world, as is the opportunity to have an aperitif in front of Bernini’s Four Rivers fountain, visit the frescoes of the Palace or simply overlook Piazza Navona.
Settimo Roman Cuisine & Terrace (Via Lombardia, 47)
Settimo is located on the top floor of the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese, a new must for Roman aperitifs. We are a few steps from Villa Medici and Villa Borghese in a 5-star hotel located in a quiet area of the capital: a skilfully restored building, which is a true work of art whose internal interiors have been redesigned by the architect Jean-Philippe Nuel.
Mama Shelter Rome (Via Luigi Rizzo, 20)
Wicker chairs, sofas and colorful fabrics for the botanical oasis of the Mama Shelter Rome. Spectacular rooftop overlooking the thousand-year-old panorama of the capital, with solarium and refreshing shower, open to the public from late afternoon. We are in the Balduina area and the venue offers its guests performances by street artists and a drink list inspired by the world of Luna Park
Mirador Rome Terrace (Via del Gianicolo, 3)
Mirador Terrace of the Villa Agrippina Gran Melià is nestled among the greenery of the Janiculum. Dense Mediterranean vegetation, palm trees, comfortable sofas and gazebos bring back the Ibizan atmosphere, but just look out to return to the ancient Roman beauties.
Seen by Oliver (Republic Square)
Restaurant located at the top of the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Hotel Rome. Cocktails represent an important part of SEEN by Olivier Roma. Whether you want to enjoy the sun or have an aperitif after a long day, or spend a fun evening with friends, here you can expect an exceptional selection of expertly prepared drinks to delight every taste.
Hey Güey – The Chapter Hotel (Via di Santa Maria de’ Calderari 47)
New since summer 2021, Hey Güey is a welcoming and colorful rooftop garden, a stone’s throw from the heart of the Jewish ghetto. The design and food & drink offering are inspired by Mexico and its typical street food, in line with the cosmopolitan style of The Chapter Hotel, which hosts the venue.
La Terrazza Bulgari Hotel Rome (Piazza Augusto Imperatore, 10)
Therefore, the terrace with a view of every part of Rome and the possibility of 360° views could not be missing. We know that the entire catering offer is curated by Niko Romito: that of the bar in particular reflects the offer of the Bulgari Bar, with some aperitif dishes and an all day menu, with oysters, focaccias and carpaccio, which can be ordered for any whim
Locarno Terrace (Via della Penna, 22)
Open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 6pm to 11pm, the Terrazza Locarno hosts dishes by chef Domenico Smargiassi accompanied by cocktails by Nicholas Pinna who can count on a dedicated bar. Both aperitif and dinner dishes can be taken during opening hours, to accommodate guests and offer them the possibility of finding a true welcome center in the hotel.
