At Casina di Raffaello, the art and creativity space of the Department of School, Training and Work of Rome Capital, managed in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura, everything is ready to celebrate together – children, adults and families – the most colorful festival of the year, the Carnival, in the name of creativity, joy, music and imagination!
On Saturday 1st March, girls and boys aged 2 to 11 will have fun making colorful masks inspired by the story of Elmer the elephant, to then wear at the big party that will be held on Tuesday 4th March (Shrove Tuesday) from 3pm to 5.15pm in the large green space in front of the Casina di Raffaello. It will be an afternoon of great joy and fun, which will involve everyone, children and adults, with many games, a masked parade and the traveling musical-theatrical show La Festa dei Colori by the Abraxa Teatro di Roma company, animated by colorful and extravagant stilt walkers who will involve those present with unusual choreographies and skillful numbers.
The weekend, as usual, will also feature the fantastic animated readings in Italian, English and French of classics of children’s literature. This time children ages 3-6 will be involved with readings of Il palloncino rosso – The little red balloon by Iela Mari (Saturday, March 1) and Piccolo giallo e piccolo blu – Petit-Bleu et Petit-Jaune by Leo Lionni (Sunday, March 2). Each reading will be followed by short creative activities to play with signs, shapes and colors.
Also still on Sunday, March 2, for girls and boys ages 2 to 11, activities related to the ongoing exhibition Small Big by Sophie Vissière continue: an opportunity to learn about the work of the French illustrator – author of the illustrated book The Little Book of Big Things – and to experience new points of view on the reality around us, with the workshops Big Stories of Little Things (2-4 years), Seen from Here (4-6) and From My Point of View (6-11 years).
Info and details on the full program, times, costs and how to participate can be found at www.casinadiraffaello.it and on the relevant social pages.
