The 10 Roman terraces for an aperitif

We present some of the most glamorous terraces to have an aperitif during the spring season in the Capital. There are many hotels or clubs that boast breathtaking views of the rooftops of Rome, so here is a personal ranking of the terraces, in our opinion, “best” where you can carve out a moment of relaxation sipping a cocktail inebriated by the Roman sunset:

RHINOCEROS The Restaurant & RoofBar (Via dei Cerchi 19/23)
The season of the new gastronomy & mixology project was inaugurated on the terraces of the Rhinoceros Foundation, Alda Fendi’s 17th-century art palace, under the supervision of Executive Chef Giuseppe Di Iorio of the AROMA restaurant (one Michelin star).

Borromini Terrace and the “ Great Beauty ” (Via Santa Maria dell’Anima, 30)
The rooftop of Terrazza Borromini, the “ Great Beauty ,” stands on the top floor of Palazzo Pamphilj, designed by Borromini in the 17th century. The view you can admire is unique in the world, as is the opportunity to have an aperitif in front of Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, visit the frescoes of the Palace, or simply look out over Piazza Navona.

Seventh Roman Cuisine & Terrace (Via Lombardia, 47)
Settimo is located on the top floor of the Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese, a new must for Roman aperitifs . We are just a few steps from Villa Medici and Villa Borghese in a 5-star hotel located in a quiet area of the capital: a carefully restored palace, which is a true work of art whose interiors were redesigned by the architect Jean-Philippe Nuel.

Mama Shelter Rome (Via Luigi Rizzo, 20)
Wicker chairs, sofas and colourful fabrics for the botanical oasis of Mama Shelter Roma. Spectacular rooftop overlooking the thousand-year-old panorama of the capital, with a solarium and refreshing shower, open to the public from late afternoon. We are in the Balduina area and the venue offers its guests performances by street artists and a drink list inspired by the world of Luna Park

Terrace Mirador Rome (Via del Gianicolo, 3)
Terrazza Mirador del Villa Agrippina Gran Melià is nestled among the greenery of the Gianicolo. Thick Mediterranean vegetation, palm trees, comfortable sofas and gazebos bring you back to the Ibizan atmosphere, but just looking out is enough to return to the ancient Roman beauties.

Seen by Oliver (Republic Square)
Restaurant located at the top of Anantara Palzzo Naiadi Hotel Rome . Cocktails are an important part of SEEN by Olivier Rome. Whether you want to enjoy the sun or have an aperitif after a long day, or spend a fun evening with friends, here you can expect an exceptional selection of expertly prepared drinks to delight every taste.

NOTOS Rooftop by Six Senses (Pz. San Marcello)
Notos is the rooftop bar and restaurant of the new and beautiful Six Senses Hotel Rome. The terrace is a ‘secret garden’, full of plants, terracotta ceramics and comfortable deckchairs. The atmosphere is relaxed and offers an unparalleled view that extends beyond the church of San Marcello al Corso and Montecitorio, to other famous Roman monuments and terraces.

Hey Güey – The Chapter Hotel (Via di Santa Maria de’ Calderari 47)
New since summer 2021, Hey Güey is a welcoming and colorful rooftop garden, a stone’s throw from the heart of the Jewish ghetto. The design and food & drink offer are inspired by Mexico and its typical street food, in line with the cosmopolitan style of The Chapter Hotel, which houses the venue.

The Terrace Bulgari Hotel Rome (Piazza Augusto Imperatore, 10)
The terrace with a view of every part of Rome and the possibility of roaming 360° could not be missed. We know that all the restaurant offerings are curated by Niko Romito: the bar offerings in particular reflect the Bulgari Bar offerings, with some aperitif dishes and an all day menu, with oysters, focaccias and carpaccios, which can be ordered for any whim.

Locarno Terrace (Via della Penna, 22)
Open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Terrazza Locarno hosts dishes by chef Domenico Smargiassi accompanied by cocktails by Nicholas Pinna who can count on a dedicated bar. Both aperitif and dinner dishes can be taken during opening hours, to accommodate guests and offer them the possibility of finding a true welcoming presence in the hotel.
