Winner of numerous international competitions, he will perform works by Beethoven and Bach. The central part of the programme will be the piano cycle &#8216;Ten pieces from the ballet \u2018Romeo and Juliet\u2019 by Sergei Prokofiev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The premiere of the ballet \u201cRomeo and Juliet\u201d to music by Sergei Prokofiev took place on the stage of the Kirov Opera and Ballet Theatre in Leningrad (today&#8217;s Mariinsky Theatre) in 1940 (85 years ago). The ballet-symphony is considered a triumph of the great Russian composer, thanks to the richness of its rhythms and the nature of its main themes. It is staged on the world&#8217;s most famous theatre stages, and some pieces are performed in classical music concerts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pyotr Akulov has been playing the piano since the age of 4. He graduated from the Moscow Central School of Music and the Gnesin Special School of Music in Moscow. Today he is a student at the Oberlin Conservatory (Prof. Stanislav Yudenich&#8217;s class), where he enrolled after winning the prestigious Thomas and Evon Cooper Competition in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite his young age (Petr Akulov is 18 years old), he has collaborated with world-renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Yuri Simonov, Lavard Skou-Larsen, Maurice Russell, Fabio Mastrangelo, Mikhail Shcherbakov and has performed as a soloist with the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, the Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra, the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Moscow Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, the Macau Orchestra, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra and other renowned orchestras.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, 26 June at 6.30 p.m., the Casa Russa in Rome will host a recital by the young Russian virtuoso Pyotr Akulov.
