It is known as the \u201c<em>Kite Capital of the World.<\/em>\u201d Kites (formerly known as \u201cpaper kites\u201d) are not only a popular entertainment tool, but also have various cultural connotations, such as praying for blessings, military communications and scientific exploration. In 2023, the Weifang International Kite Festival was included by UNESCO in the \u201cRepresentative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity,\u201d becoming an important symbol of global cultural exchange.
