The artist is considered today the most important exponent of German Impressionism. The thirty-two works, coming from German and Italian collections, reconstruct the most significant phases of his artistic journey which lasted more than sixty years.<br><br>Liebermann, a great admirer of Goethe, had close ties with France and the Netherlands, but Italy also played a decisive role in his artistic career.
