What to do in Rome on the weekend of May 11 and 12? Here are some suggestions:
–Expodemic: Expodemic began this week, the second edition of the Festival of Foreign Academies and Cultural Institutes in Rome, which starts from Palazzo Esposizioni Roma and spreads throughout the city. The festival which will unfold between the various academies and the Palazzo delle Esposizioni will take place from 7 May to 25 August. The exhibition is also enriched by a public program of meetings, performances and screenings hosted at Palazzo Esposizioni and by the numerous exhibitions and events organized in the Academies and Cultural Institutes.
–Tennis Internationals: until May 19, the Capital hosts the usual event of Tennis Internationals with one of the most important Master 1000s on the ATP circuit. It’s a shame for the announced absence of Jannik Sinner, our local tennis idol.
–Race for the Cure: the largest event in Italy and in the world for the fight against breast cancer, this year the Race for the Cure celebrates its 25th edition in Rome in the splendid setting of the Circus Maximus. The village will be open from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th May with many free health, sport and wellbeing initiatives.
–World Press Photo 2024: from 9 May to 9 June 2024 the World Press Photo 2024 exhibition arrives at Palazzo delle Esposizioni. It will present the best and most important documentary and photojournalism photographs from all over the world, selected by an independent jury. For its 67th edition, the competition saw the participation of 3,851 photographers from 130 countries with 61,062 photographs and open format contributions.
-The Goddess Rome by Pietro Tenerani: it is the last opportunity to admire for free the Santa Rita room of the baroque building which for the occasion will host the herm of the Goddess Rome, a plaster work part of the collection of the Museum of Rome created by great nineteenth-century sculptor Pietro Tenerani.
Sunday 12th May will be Mother's Day in Italy! For this occasion, guided tours are scheduled from 10am to 7pm on Sunday 12 May at the Butterfly House (Via Annia Regilla 245).
