The series of meetings The villas tell a story resumes from 18 September 2024, a series of unpublished presentations and conferences promoted by Roma Capitale, Department of Culture, Capitoline Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, with the aim of continuing to enhance and strengthen knowledge of the artistic heritage of the villas and parks of the city of Rome.
The meetings, conducted by art historians and archaeologists of the Capitoline Superintendency and other scholars in the sector, will be concentrated on specific themes of art, archeology and culture of greenery and landscape, with the aim of making known and exploring the heritage of historic Roman villas to the general public. Places, works and stories generally little known and reconstructed in the wake of scientific studies and insights born and developed around the complex and articulated world of the historic villas of Rome.
The topics covered have evolved above all in the wake of the reflections that emerged around the semantics of “enhancement” and the suggestions of the stories evoked relating to the artistic heritage of the historic Villas.
This new series of meetings is also part of Patrimonio in Comune, a program of cultural and educational proposals of the Capitoline Superintendence to promote and spread knowledge of Rome and its historical and cultural heritage.
All conferences are open and free of charge, subject to availability.
