Yuko Araki in concert
Yuko Araki, a Tokyo-based multi-instrumentalist and composer, explores a wide range of musical pursuits. Initially attracted to the piano as a child, her adolescence saw her fascinated by hardcore and metal music. However, her musical palette broadened significantly as she delved into various projects, including becoming the drummer for the band Kuunatic that plays dreamy tribal tales.
Yuko Araki’s solo project is where her creativity truly flourishes. Through modular synthesis, he creates abstract rhythms and dissonant harmonies, seamlessly blending elements of noise drones and industrial genres in his compositions. Its exceptional sensitivity in processing heavy, dense sounds results in a soundscape unlike anything else you’ve got heard before: it’s as if a thousand leaves sway simultaneously, rooted in Japanese noise but entirely distinct. His music transports listeners to intergalactic soundscapes. In 2019, Yuko Araki released the EP “I” under the Indonesian label Gerpfast Records, followed by “II” under the Italian label Commando Vanessa. His debut album, “End Of Trilogy”, released in 2021. “IV”, released in 2023 under Room40, focused on creating loud music free of unnecessary clutter. It included a track featuring vocals from Taichi Nagura of the Japanese band Endon.
She will perform at INIT in Rome on September 21st at 10 pm.
