You are only Austrian when you are in Jesolo
The Austrian Cultural Forum in Rome on Friday 29 November at 7.00 pm presents the book “Österreicher bist du erst in Jesolo”, or “You are only Austrian when you are in Jesolo”, by Gerald Heidegger. The author starts from this statement by his uncle Bertl and investigates the traces of an Austrian identity in transition. The result is the book published in German by Bahoe Books in 2024.
Theses and themes of the book will be discussed by the author, Gerald Heidegger, in conversation with Cornelia Vospernik, correspondent in Italy for the Austrian state TV ORF. It will be an opportunity to learn what forms the identity of the Austrian “Mensch”. The meeting takes place in Italian and is enriched by the reading of some passages chosen from the book, translated into Italian by Nina Perendi.
