Tupa Ruja live in Zurla
Tupa Ruja, winners of the prestigious award dedicated to world music, “Premio Alberto Cesa – Folkest 2022”, will perform on the stage of the trendy and colorful venue in Pigneto for the first event of the “Musica scelta” series curated by Paolo Camerini in collaboration with Zurla.
A concert that is a true “journey into sounds”. The path of the band, active on the Italian and international scene since 2006, crosses times and cultures, bringing together instruments from different places and worlds, such as the didgeridoo – the traditional Aboriginal Australian
instrument – and percussion from various parts of the world, blending with multiple expressions of voice, from improvisation to harmonic singing (typical of Mongolian culture), creating original songs that rediscover languages and dialects belonging to Mediterranean cultures, mixing them with the more modern sounds of the guitar and the Irish bouzouki.
Until 2013, the duo moved within the world music panorama, participating in numerous national and international festivals, receiving important awards and recognitions. In 2013, the duo was enriched by the experience of the guitarist and arranger Alessandro Chessa, with whom they released the album “Impronte Live”, taken from the concert of the same name at the Teatro Sala Uno in Rome. In 2016, Tupa Ruja returned to being a duo, and in January 2017, they began collaborating with pianist Alessandro Gwis (pianist for Javier Girotto and Aires Tango, Avion Travel, Samuele Bersani) with whom they released the album “In Questo Viaggio” in 2019, produced and distributed by Filibusta Records.
