One of the most original seasons of Italian artistic culture of the first half of the 20th century is represented by the Italian expressionism of the 1920s and 1940s which, although developed in more or less defined and long-lived groups and associations, made a fundamental contribution to contemporary artistic research. relief. The exhibition The aesthetics of deformation is dedicated to this aesthetic and poetic experience between the two wars. Protagonists of Italian Expressionism, hosted from 6 July 2024 to 2 February 2025 at the Gallery of Modern Art and conceived in view of the celebration of the centenary of the Gallery itself (1925-2025).
