In the narration of jazz, Africa always and only occupies the place of the original source, of a mythical, historical and ideological reference. But in the evolution of black music, Africa is much more: a galaxy of cultures in movement, a rich mosaic of genres and styles of different historical depths, a continent at the center of exchanges, hybridizations, transatlantic and Mediterranean movements in different and multiple cultural directions.
