Paths between Secession, Futurism and Return to Order
At the Casino dei Principi in Villa Torlonia, from 14 June to 06 October 2024, the Artiste exhibition arrives in Rome. Paths between Secession, Futurism and Return to Order.
The exhibition project adds a further piece of knowledge to that line of research, started several years ago by the Capitoline Superintendence, dedicated to female artists and the image of women in the history of art. Through a selection of around 100 works including paintings, sculptures and photographs, the exhibition documents the artistic commitment of many painters and sculptors active in the Capitoline cultural life in the first half of the twentieth century, exponents of those avant-gardes and those movements which, from futurism to ‘expressionism, they spanned the years of the twenties up to the post-war period. Artists often underestimated by official historiography despite having been the protagonists of a vast artistic production that left a significant mark in the history of Italian art of the 20th century.
