On Thursday, 7 November at 7.30 p.m., the vocal ensemble of choral music of the Russian Academy of Music Gnesin Gnesin ‘Other Choir’, directed by Aleksandr Ryzhinsky, will perform at the San Vitale Basilica.
The unique programme ‘Masterpieces of Russian Sacred Music: from Michail Glinka to Alfred Schnittke’ includes Russian religious songs from different periods, created by great composers such as Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Petr Čajkovskij, Sergei Rachmaninov, Georgij Sviridov, Rodion Shchedrin and others.
The evening will open with Mikhail Glinka’s ‘Cherub Song’, whose 220th anniversary is being celebrated this year.
