Literary and Musical Salon on the occasion of the 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin

The third literary-musical salon will be held on Thursday 20 June at 6.30 pm at the Casa Russa in Rome. This time the meeting will be dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, founder of the modern Russian literary language.

The significance of the Russian poet’s work for world literature will be told by Vadim Polonskij, expert of the Russian Academy of Sciences, director of the Institute of World Literature A.M. Gorky. On the Italian side, Giuseppe Ghini, university professor, Slavist and writer, editor and translator of the recent Italian edition of Pushkin’s poem “Evgeny Onegin” (2021) will participate in the literary-musical salon. The poet’s romances and poems to music by Mikhail Glinka, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Aleksandr Dargomyžskij, Sergej Rachmaninov, Anton Rubinštejn, Aleksandr Vlasov will be performed by the winners of the international competitions, the sopranos Elizaveta Smirnova, Maria Smirnova and Natalia Pavlova, a descendant of Alexander Pushkin. At the piano – Sebastiano Brusco.

Also on the program are the famous Letters of Tatiana and Onegin from the poem of the same name, works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Francesco Paolo Tosti, Franz Schubert, Fryderyk Chopin, a piece of music by Countess Zinaida Volkonskaja, who was at the origin of the Salotti tradition Literary. The public will have the opportunity to recite the poems of the great Russian poet.
