Letterature 2025 “Returns”
Return is one of the oldest and deepest themes in literature. A topos that is a metaphor for life itself and finds intertwined with travel, nostalgia, and the search for self.
Homer’s Odyssey is the archetypal model of this: where Odysseus’ long wanderings are not just a physical return to Ithaca, but a journey of inner transformation, a journey that changes him, reveals him to himself and prepares him to reclaim his identity. In every age, return continues to be a powerful metaphor for the human condition: the desire to return home is intertwined with the knowledge that never, no return, can be identical to the departure.
