Human trafficking: understanding, preventing, protecting, curbing the phenomenon
On Tuesday, April 15, at 5:30 p.m., the Fanfani Hall of the IILA – International Italo-Latin American Organization will host a round table discussion titled “Human Trafficking: Understanding, Preventing, Protecting, and Combating the Phenomenon.” This event is organized in collaboration with the Embassies of Colombia and Chile in Italy. It marks the beginning of a series of events aimed at fostering dialogue and cooperation among Latin American embassies in Italy regarding the trafficking of Latin American citizens in Italy and Europe.
Human trafficking is a serious violation of human rights that affects thousands of people, particularly women and girls, but also men and minors in vulnerable situations. The forms of exploitation are varied, including sexual exploitation, forced labor, forced begging, organ trafficking, and recruitment for criminal activities. The urgency and complexity of this issue demand an integrated and collaborative approach involving states, international organizations, and civil society. This meeting was organized with the purpose of exploring the topic in depth, fostering a network among practitioners and consulates, and establishing shared and effective strategies.
