Guglielmo Castelli exhibits at Villa Medici
For the next meeting of the Art Club cycle, Villa Medici invites the Turin painter Guglielmo Castelli. The exhibition is scheduled from March 1st to May 19th. Inspired by literature, theater and art history, Guglielmo Castelli develops a universe in which he mixes human and animal figures, fragments of landscape, natural elements and everyday scenes. With a figurative style in which magmatic and monochromatic areas coexist with fluid subjects, he sets up stories in perpetual movement, almost cinematic.
The setting that welcomes these stories is that of the gardens of Villa Medici: five works by Castelli are presented in the Atelier Balthus, in the Studiolo di Ferdinando de’ Medici and in the plaster cast gallery. These are four oils on canvas: the diptych I Believe in The Nights (2021); Buon Vento (2023); Le Jardin des Refusés and The mutiny’s space (2022), as well as a tapestry made with recycled plastic and natural threads, Dorofoco. Bonotto for A collection (2020). This set of works offers visitors a chromatic journey where each work seems to contain an enigma to be solved.
