Europe and the Gulf: roles in the de-escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict
In recent weeks, Israel and Iran have entered into a confrontation that could significantly reshape the situation in the Middle East for decades to come. Following the US decision to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, a temporary ceasefire was established, the sustainability of which, however, remains uncertain. In this unstable context, both Europe and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries share an interest in cooperating to de-escalate the conflict and support a renewed diplomatic path between the US and Iran. The event will discuss possible synergies to chart a way forward for diplomacy to prevail.
