Concert Alexander Gadjiev

For the first time as a guest of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, pianist Alexander Gadjiev will perform at the Teatro Argentina in Rome on Thursday 11 April at 9.00 pm.

Alexander Gadjiev is one of the new Italian talents who is quickly establishing himself internationally. Born in Gorizia in 1994 to a family of musicians, Alexander has developed a natural ability to absorb, process and revisit different musical styles and languages ​​with his own taste. Winner of international prizes and recognitions, including Premio Venezia (XXX edition) and BBC New Generation Artist for the three-year period 2019-2021, his name rises to the occasion in 2021 with the second prize and the special Krystian Zimerman prize “for the best performance of a Sonata” at the XVIII Chopin Competition in Warsaw and First Prize at the International Competition in Sydney. In recent years he has been invited to perform throughout Europe, the Far East and Australia. He is cultural ambassador of “Nova Gorica/Gorizia, European Capital of Culture 2025”.

To open the evening, the piano transcription of the Prelude, Fugue and Variations op. 18 work originally for organ of elegant workmanship by César Franck, followed by two Nocturnes – n. 1 and 2 from op. 15 – and the Scherzo n. 3 op. 39 by Chopin, an author particularly loved by Gadjiev. Of a different style is the Sonata n. 9 op. 68 known as “Black Mass” by Aleksandr Skrjabin, among the last composed by the Russian author for keyboard, between 1912 and ’13. The final piece is very famous, the paintings from an exhibition by Mussorgsky, the Russian composer’s best-known piano work, written in 1874 to remember his friend the architect and painter Viktor Hartmann who had died the previous year.
