Antiquaires voyageurs

The “Antiquaires voyageurs” conference aims to focus on the links between the travels of European antiquarians from the Renaissance to the 19th century and the formation of knowledge of the ancient and medieval past through its material remains. The objective is to question the relevance of the separation that is sometimes drawn between “the man of study” and “the man of action”, and to reflect on how the journey fits into a material, intellectual horizon and imaginary.
