“Countering disinformation in view of the European elections

The European Parliament in Italy and the Representation in Italy of the European Commission organized together with Google and IDMO/LUISS the event “Countering disinformation in view of the European elections: what tools have been put in place? What best practices? What still remains to be done?” with Giorgia Abeltino, Senior Director, Director External Relations of Google, Gianni Riotta, journalist and director of the LUISS journalism school and director of the IDMO/LUISS information monitoring observatory and Prof. Eng. Giorgio Ventre, Full Professor of Information Systems Information Processing at the University of Naples Federico II and Scientific Director of the Apple Developer Academy.

The meeting on April 12th at 11.00 a.m. aims to discuss disinformation in view of the European elections next June 2024. Disinformation poses a threat to our societies and democracy. It can contribute to undermining trust in institutions and the media, hindering citizens’ ability to make informed decisions and having important consequences on electoral results.
