Maria Borio, Tom Schulz: Letters from the Red Desert – Poems

In this bilingual Italian-German volume ‘Letters from the Red Desert’, Maria Borio and Tom Schulz take on one of the oldest forms of literature: the epistolary poem.

Focusing on letters and poems of fifteen lines each, they create a poetic dialogue that attempts to link space and time and at the same time tries to overcome them. The messages, questions and answers imply a search for the other in an era in which the usual parameters seem to be lost and which is determined by crises. During the evening, the authors Maria Borio and Tom Schulz will recite selected poems and talk together with Camilla Miglio, professor of Germanistics at ‘La Sapienza’ University, about how the book came into being and what it means to write epistolary poems today.

The event will take place on 11 December at 7 p.m. at the Goethe House Museum in Rome in Italian and German.
