Art lent to cinema: works that become protagonists

Art lent to the cinema. In so many famous films, paintings have influenced directors to the point of making them decide to move a shot to give greater prominence to a painting in the scene. This testifies to the fact that the encounter between painting and cinema has represented, and still represents, a profound bond that translates into visual emotions that embellish stories. Director Matteo Mavero, who has founded his mission on this pairing and who is preparing for the debut of a documentary/tribute to the Serbian artist Damnjan, is firmly convinced of this. On 9 October 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia will host (by invitation only) the screening of this introspective journey into the work of the artist known for his avant-garde visual language and the existential themes that run through his artistic production. An important experiment that was born with the aim of exploring the creative process and capturing the beauty and complexity of works of art in order to tell them through images and make them more accessible to an attentive viewer but also to those who are unaware of this magical world made of colours and emotions. Producing the documentary/tribute is Artery Film, a production company founded in 2021 and born of Mavero’s passion for creating a bridge between art and the viewer. A characteristic that allowed him to make a name for himself quickly thanks to a short film ‘121’, which received numerous awards at film festivals.

At the opening of the event there will be an institutional greeting by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia H.E. Ms. Mirjana Jeremić. After the screening there will be a Q&A with the director Matteo Mavero and a cocktail (Admission by reservation only)
