SUMMARY:Presentation at the Crocetti Museum
DESCRIPTION:\nAn afternoon dedicated to the art of sculptor Venanzo Crocetti is scheduled for Thursday, April 10, at 6 p.m., when the book Venanzo Crocetti’s Dance Student will be presented in the Crocetti Museum (Via Cassia 492) in Rome. The Harmony of Matter. Study technique and restoration, edited by Claudio Crescentini, Carla Ortolani, Livia Sforzini and published by Silvana Editoriale.\n\n\n\nCrocetti (Giulianova 1913-Rome 2003) is considered among the greatest sculptors of the 20th century, and among the countless works he created is the Door of the Sacraments for St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican (1965).\n\n\n\nClaudio Massimo Strinati (art historian and secretary general of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca), Lorenzo Canova (associate professor of contemporary art history at the University of Molise) and Sharon Hecker (art historian and curator specializing in modern Italian art) will speak at the book presentation, introduced by institutional greetings.\n\n\n\nThe volume, commissioned by the Crocetti Foundation, documents the research, study and restoration work that the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro (ICR) carried out at the request of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma Capitale (GAM), owner of the work, in multidisciplinary collaboration with other entities such as the Crocetti Foundation Archives, the Capitoline Superintendency and the UOSD of Diagnostic Imaging in Emergency and Urgency, Department of Radiological Sciences, Oncology of the Policlinico Umberto I.\n\n\n\nThe sculpture L’Allieva di danza , created by Crocetti in 1958, was developed by the Municipality of Rome in 1960 following the VIII Quadriennale Nazionale d’Arte and constitutes one of the Artist’s first large-scale sculptures dedicated to the theme of dance, a subject already present in various sketches from the 1940s and which, from the late 1950s onward, would become recurrent in his production.\n\n\n\nDue to serious injuries affecting its lower part, making it structurally unstable, it had not been exhibited since 1963. After about two years of careful restoration, it returned to the halls of the Galleria d’Arte Moderna di Roma Capitale.\n\n\n\nFor information: info@fondazionecrocetti.it ( mailto:info@fondazionecrocetti.it )\n\n\n\n\n
