DESCRIPTION:\nThe presentation of the documentary “Footprints” by Alisa Kovalenko is sponsored by the Italian Federation of Human Rights (FIDU) will feature director Alisa Kovalenko and Iryna Dovhan, Director of Sema Ukraine, an organization that supports Ukrainian women survivors of war violence.\n\n\n\nSponsored by Sema Ukraine, the Associazione Italia Ucraina Maidan – European Cultural Association and the Ukrainian Embassy in Rome, the event focuses on a major theme: sexual violence as a weapon of war. The documentary, which tells the stories of six Ukrainian women, brings to light the devastating reality of sexual violence in conflict, which began in 2014 in the Donbas and intensified with the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.\n\n\n\nThe film, made to raise awareness, addresses the dramatic phenomenon of gender-based violence as a tool of oppression, and promotes justice for survivors. The event will be an important opportunity for reflection and debate, with the goal of combating stigma and promoting global awareness of sexual violence in wars.\n\n\n\nThe press conference will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Press Room of the Chamber of Deputies (Via della Missione 4, Rome) and will be broadcast live on webtv.camera.it ( http://webtv.camera.it ).
