SUMMARY:I paint flowers so they don’t die
DESCRIPTION:\nThe exhibition “I paint flowers to keep them from dying”, proposed by the Metamorfosi Association and curated by Carlo Lucidi, which celebrates the 70th anniversary of the death of Frida Kahlo, will be inaugurated on 30 November 2024 at the Sala Santa Rita in Rome. With over 80 artists from all over the world, the exhibition tells, through contemporary jewellery, the lasting and universal influence of Frida Kahlo, symbol of resistance, beauty and female identity. The exhibition is promoted by Roma Capitale Department of Culture-Cultural Activities Department.\n\n\n\nThe over 300 works on display explore the link between creativity, resilience and female identity, through unique pieces made with materials ranging from gold to recycled metals, from ceramics to fabrics. Each work, like a small universe, tells stories of strength, suffering, hope and rebirth, themes that reflect the art and life of Kahlo, who greatly influenced and continues to inspire generations of artists.\n\n\n\nThis exhibition is not only a tribute to the legendary Mexican artist, but also an opportunity to reflect on the impact of female creativity in contemporary art. The jewel, which has always been a symbol of personality and identity, becomes the means through which these artists dialogue with Kahlo’s themes: pain, hope, the double, identity.\n
